Ever since my first day of kindergarten, when I was 4 years old, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher! I grew up in Pennsylvania, and my teaching degree is from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. My first year of teaching began in 1992 in Jackson, MS with 7th Grade Reading. I then taught 4th Grade for 2 years in Little Rock, AR before my husband and I moved to Charleston, SC in 1995. I taught 4th and 2nd grade at James Simons Elementary School until the birth of my first son in November of 2002. My second son was born in May of 2004. I was excited to return to teaching in August of 2005 at Charleston Progressive Academy where I have taught 3rd, 4th, and now 5th grade. I love teaching and learning. I enjoy using technology to personalize learning. My philosophy is to collaborate with my colleagues, to have high expectations, and to teach my students as if they were my own children. I want to give them the best education that I possibly can in order to prepare them for their future as leaders in the community.
